Fall has returned (if only temporarily)

It may be only June 9th, but here in northern California, it seems as if Autumn has decided to pay us a little visit. It has gone from the high-80s back to the low-to-mid-70s in just two days. The sky is clouded, and the sun's rays are shining through only a few small openings. I am loving the cool, gentle breeze coming through the window behind me. I'm enjoying it while it lasts because I know that in just a matter of days, those 100-degree days, so typical of this time of year, will be here.

I purchased a packet of pumpkin seeds yesterday. The store had some for 'Competition Size'-100-pounders! I couldn't resist trying them. I've always wanted to have my own little pumpkin patch. Maybe this year I will get my wish.

Enjoy those cool breezes! They can be oh, so fleeting this time of year.

Thanks, guys! I just hope the pumpkins will really grow to be that big. That would be awesome! I've never grown my own pumpkins, so we'll see. Halloween is less than six months away now. Before we know it, it will be July, and many stores will start putting out their Halloween stuff! :) One of my greatest thrills of the year is when I walk into Michael's or some other craft store and I see the first signs of Halloween! We don't really have too much longer to wait for that now!

Well if it's any consolation, we have several small patches of pumpkins growing strong this year here in Florida. And the heat which as been hot and humid hasn't seemed to hinder them yet....so there is hope.

On the subject of Michael's...I went in there this weekend and I saw what I would consider to be the very first inkling of Fall's arrival. There was small section of Fall Flowers at the end of one of the rows. I even double checked the sign above to make sure it said FALL and didn't just just like Fall colors. And sure enough it was new Fall Flowers. I took a picture with my cell phone, but I've been too lazy to post it. But it won't be long now...hooray! :o)

Wendy...that is AWESOME!! I can't believe it! You're telling me that Michael's has already started putting out the first Fall stuff?! Wow, I'm seriously surprised. I thought they would start in August, or maybe late July if we were lucky, but I never dreamed they'd start this early! Thanks for letting us in on this wonderful news! I'll be going there myself now to check it out. ;)
