October Dreams

I went jogging tonight around our neighborhood, and the whole time I kept thinking how it seemed so much like October. It was so refreshing and invigorating. The air was moist and crisp, and the streets were damp with leaves strewn all over them. It was as if the first of October was here again, and it was wonderful. There was even that odd scent in the air that always accompanies October; that sort of clammy, mossy smell like the inside of an old cellar. I always love that smell because it makes me think of Halloween. The only thing missing were pumpkins and Halloween decorations on doorsteps and porches. The weather is taunting me.

I could live in that painting.

Hello, my Queen! Haven't been by in a while and just wanted to remind you that I love your words. Every time I read this blog I feel less like old man winter and more like an October boy-- all mischief and shadows and fiery eyes-- which suits me just fine.

Yep, lovely blog...

Thank you! Sometimes I just feel particularly moved by something that really makes it seem like Halloween is close by. That day, there was just something about the weather, and the way that everything looked. It "felt" like it was early Fall, as if Halloween was right around the corner. That probably sounds strange, but it's the best I can describe it. I love that feeling.
