I wish I could do a shoot in an old Victorian mansion. That would be the next best thing!Tisha Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14567523436756518610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810390450993878447.post-51558703978613464082009-06-12T20:15:23.856-07:002009-06-12T20:15:23.856-07:00I actually found several scarecrows on-line I like...I actually found several scarecrows on-line I liked, and then made a hybrid of them. But FYI...clothing a 9 ft. scarecrow did pose a slight dilemma at first. What we ended up using was black burlap. We used a long sheet draped over each arm, and then one in the middle. We roughly measured out how much we'd need before we went to purchase it. It was the cheapest material to use considering we had to use SO MUCH. However, we also learned that burlap frays quickly in the wind if you don't hem the edges. So we had to go out there and iron fusible hemming tape onto the ends while it was on the scarecrow. That allowed for a no-sew hem, but was rather difficult. Hind sight being 20/20...we should have hemmed those edges before ever dressing the scarecrow because his clothes were stapled on.

And that's great to know about the cemetary...maybe I will attempt one now that I know they didn't get upset about it. Beautiful statues and headstones. I love scarecrows! I'll have to check out the one you made. 9ft...wow! Sounds awesome! I once made one like the creepy one you see at the beginning of 'Sleepy Hollow' with Johnny Depp. It was awesome. I'd love to make a giant Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas, but I wouldn't begin to know how. Finding fabric for the clothes would be the hardest part.Tisha Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14567523436756518610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1810390450993878447.post-959918046923082602009-06-10T12:01:50.521-07:002009-06-10T12:01:50.521-07:00Spooky cool stuff you found there! My big project last year, was vintage apothecary and a super cool 9ft. scarecrow, both of which I blogged about and shared photos. But for the life of me, I can't think of good project this year. I do like the cupcake tree though. I have been wanting one of those racks for a while now and just haven't gotten...maybe I will!
Thanks for posting.....happy hump day.

Oh...and as a photographer and Halloween lover...I just wanted to give you kudos on those graveyard pics...LOVE THEM! I've always wanted to shoot people in the graveyard...but I was scared I would get in trouble. Did you all have any problems with that? The Artful Gypsy aka Wendy the Very Good Witchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06019178141482378287noreply@blogger.com
